Why We Built SportBuns
Finding a reliable padel partner should not require ten WhatsApp groups. Here is the problem we set out to solve.
I kept seeing the same pattern: talented, motivated athletes spending more time organizing than playing.
The fragmentation problem
Want padel tonight? Check one WhatsApp group. Running on Saturday? Another chat. Basketball? A Facebook post from three weeks ago.
Each sport had its own silo. Skill level was guesswork. And when someone did not show up, there was no lightweight way to signal that without drama.
What we wanted instead
One place where you could:
- See open games near you on a map
- Find partners at your level without cold-DMing strangers
- Build recurring communities that outlive a single match
- Coordinate in-app until you choose to share more contact info
That became SportBuns.
Showing up matters
Reliability is a feature. Activity streaks, community participation, and host tools are all nudges toward the same culture: if you commit, you show up.
We are still early. But every game that happens because two strangers trusted a shared platform is a win.
